Haakpatroon // Sjaal voor je voorjaarsbollen

Crochet pattern // Scarf for your spring bulbs

Every now and then I have those moments when my creativity has an 'Oh, but this could be really nice' idea and I have to try it out. This crochet pattern is the result of such a moment.

You crochet these cute scarves in less than fifteen minutes from your leftover yarn! Nice and sustainable!

I crocheted my scarves with leftover Stylecraft Special DK or Scheepjes Color Crafter. I buy my Stylecraft yarn at Wolplein and the Scheepjes yarn at Caro's Atelier. They both always have many colors in stock and deliver quickly!
The yarn I have for this pattern is Scheepjes Color Crafter in the colors Mechelen and Almelo. I used crochet hook 4.
  • For a hyacinth bulb scarf you crochet 23 chain stitches and for an Amarylisse bulb approx. 38 chain stitches (this depends a bit on the size of your ball, so always measure)
  • row 1: hdc in the 3rd st from your hook, hdc in the rest of the chain. Turn your work, chain 2.
  • row 2: Half double crochets in the front loop to the end (see photo, because I also crochet the loop under the front loop). Turn your work, chain 2.
  • row 3: Htr in the back loop only (see photo). Turn your work, chain 2)
  • rows 4 through 7: Repeat rows 2 and 3
  • Secure the thread, but don't cut your thread too short, because you will be attaching the 2 ends here.

    • Place your work right side up (see photo)
    • Fold your work in half on both sides and then slide them together as shown in the photo
    • Sew the 4 pieces of your work together with a needle.
    • Knot your 2 threads together and work them into your scarf.
    • Turn your scarf inside out to see the end result.
    • Tadaaa..... your ball scarf is ready!!

It can be that simple to make something fun with your leftover yarn! If you are going to put your hyacinth bulbs somewhere without soil, make sure that you do not place them too close to a heater or stove and give them a little water every week with a knot. Tie the 2 threads together and hide them in your scarf.

    Have fun crocheting!

    Love, Elke
