DIY // SINTERKLAAS GARLAND

Now that Sinterklaas is almost back in the country, I thought it was time to make something. I made a festive garland full of miters.

The mitres are super easy to fold and in less than an hour you have made a nice garland with things that we all have at home. The paper I used comes from the various Flow Book for Paper Lovers, but you can use any magazine or cozy paper.

What do you need:
  • Paper 12×12
  • Gold paper
  • Wire
  • Pair of scissors
  • Masking tape
  • Glue, a glue stick is the most convenient

  • Folding instruction:

Fold the square diagonally with the colored side out. Fold your top straight down and fold only the top corner and then unfold it again. You now have an aiming point to fold your right corner towards.

Fold your left corner to the right. Fold the top flap down and stick it with masking tape.

When you have folded all miters you can stick or draw a gold cross on a number of miters.

My crosses are made of gold paper, but this can also be any piece of paper, where I have cut strips of 0.5 cm. Stick them on your miters and cut the edges.

Pull a thread through all the tunnels on the back of your miters with a needle. Your garland is ready!

    Have fun making the garland!

    Love, Elke
